When you hear Ruby, the first thing that across your mind it must be a red stone. These guide will tell you a little about ruby and why you can use it as alternative ring beside diamonds rings or other precious stones.

Ruby itself is derived from the Latin word “ruber”, meaning red. Ruby has a level of 9.0 Moh’s hardness scale, one level under the diamond (10.0 Moh’s Scale) and classified as precious stones, besides diamond, sapphire and emerald.

Like diamonds, before you buy ring ruby, you must pay attention to 4 c (cut, clarity, carat and cut), but for ruby, just like other colored stones, the one that most important it is the color. Best color for ruby is rich in red, and not too much other colors.

What makes ring ruby so special it is the red color of ruby. Ruby Itself represents many things, mostly represents passion, romance, desire, wealth, health, bravery and power. Although it doesn’t have mystical power, but who owned ring ruby will feel positive energy when they wear it.

Ruby can be combined with many ring materials (gold, platinum, silver, etc). When Ruby combined with yellow gold ring, it will enhance its red color and will make it look more expensive.

One of the things (if not the first) to be prepared before your wedding is a wedding ring, and the choice usually it’s a gold diamond rings. History tells, gold diamond rings is used in weddings since hundreds of years ago. Ring means bond, while the diamond means forever. So we can say diamond ring = bond forever. The material used to make a wedding ring is usually gold. There are advantages and disadvantages of each material that used to make the ring, but most people choose gold because gold is the most common material used, never go out of fashion, and if it begin to dull, it can be polished again.

14K or 18K

As I know, there is no gold wedding ring made of 100% gold (24k) because it’s too soft (but there is 24K jewelry ring). To make a gold wedding ring, it must be mixed with other materials, usually alloy copper for rose gold or yellow gold ring and nickel or palladium for white gold ring (some people reported allergic to nickel, so you better choose palladium). Gold ring is divided into several types i.e. 9K, 14k and 18k. But for wedding or engagment ring usually is 14K or 18K gold ring. 14k gold contains 58% gold and the rest 42% is other materials, while 18K gold is 75% gold and the rest 25% is other materials. Because the other materials that used to mix with gold is harder than gold, the 14k gold is harder from 18k gold. So if you’re an active person, I suggest you to purchase 14k gold, if you are the person who will remove the ring at work or you work behind the desk, you can buy 18k gold.

White Gold or Yellow Gold

Yellow gold looks more classic, but sometimes it looks too vivid, so it doesn’t match with the clothes or jewelry that you used. In contrary, because it’s neutral color, white gold can be used in almost every occasion.

Diamond ring setting

There are several types of diamond ring settings, such as the bezel setting, Ballerina setting, bead setting, Channel Setting, Setting Cluster, Flush Setting, and Pave Setting. Settings may affect how the diamond will reflect light (whether the ring setting will block the light) and of course it will affect how the ring looks, just select the ring setting that most suit your personality.

Diamond Cut

There are several types of diamond cut (round brilliant cut, princess cut, step cut, etc) that will make a diamond shape looks different. but what most important is not what type of diamond cut, but it’s the two aspects of the cut, which is polish and symmetry. If the diamond not well polished, the surface of the diamond may not reflective and the sparkle won’t come out or it will be blurred. If the symmetry is poor, it will cause the light that enter the diamond won’t reflect to the surface of the diamond, and the light will exits the diamond.

Diamonds are women’s best friend, that’s what people say. Many women dream to wear jewelry diamond ring in her life, and men think if they buy jewelry diamond ring, she will be with him forever as the diamond is forever (or at least attract her attention)

You might think why diamond is so expensive; maybe it cost one or two month salary. I’ll tell you why, it’s because it takes millions of years to form a diamond; and now it’s still year 2009! Fresh diamond please?.. Fresh diamond will be ready in next million years, or it’s free!

Ok, now you know why it’s so expensive and you still want to buy her jewelry diamond ring. Here’s the thing you should know:

Jewelry reflects personality

The most important thing is to know your women style, because there’s a chance she will never wear jewelry from you because she don’t like it (she appreciate it, but she never wear it). If she is casual, you don’t have to worry, just buy her simple one and not too flashy. If she is glamour girl, buy her jewelry with a lot of diamonds (more sparkle is better…but its sounds more money to me ) If she’s eccentric, buy her some unique jewelry diamond ring, with a tribal motif, animal, etc

Learn about the diamond

Learn about the 4C (clarity, Color, Cut and Carat). This is important, especially if she knows a lot about diamonds. If she’s blind about diamonds, you can take a deep breath, because with the current technology, the quality of diamond imitation is going better and better. She will not notice it if it’s fake or real… at least if she dont take it to the jeweler. However, it’s better to give her the best you’ve got, you can think that as investment too

You can buy a jewelry diamond ring at the jewelry store, but it needs more time and effort. Nowadays, buying jewelry on the internet is easier, but you have to choose carefully, some online stores sell fake diamonds. Find a store that provides warranty or diamond certification. If you looking for cheaper price, try to visit Amazon.

In the end, buying a jewelry diamond ring does not guarantee you will get the girl you want. If she see’s you from how much you can spend your money for her, I encourage you to leave her, she will leave you if there’s someone more worth a.k.a richer than you. There’s still a lot of girl’s that can accept you as you are, just polish your another potency.
